A victim secured, alone, in his own holo-room, beheaded by a sword, potentially with electric properties. Which made no sense. I mean anybody with one. Or is it all: Woo-hoo! Here we go again! I was thinking about that asshole Dubrosky. There he is banging away at Britt Casey yesterday afternoon. A triple-header, according to her.
Pirate captain and cabin boy. And this morning? He sneaks in a coffee and a quickie with Chelsea Saxton, then gets a follow-up bj in the shower. I really think most ginnies would say: Hey! But does the penis just keep searching out the next orifice? Or just a nap. The hillside vanished, the sounds of war faded away. She watched the blood on her palm do the same.
She picked up her shirt, studied the ragged tear down the back. A mix of illusion and reality combined to murder. She sipped, long and slow. Most who know anything know I have your hair. Let it burn there. Now get your skinny ass in that bathroom. Very suitable for the occasion. I think I remembered wrong who the killer is. I thought it was Cill, but she just tied in my head with some of the other more nefarious female killers in this series.
He came later, in college. You know how it is. I love it!! Rural Ireland, she thought, holding her breath as they zipped around the next turn on the Journey of Death. Where the towns were barely a hiccup on the landscape, and where she was pretty damn sure the cows outnumbered the people. And the sheep outnumbered the cows. And she knew those dots all over the green were sheep and cows. Probably discussing war strategy.
Towering, tumbling places that had maybe been castles or forts. I remember this one. Eve has a lovely gift for Roarke in memory of his mother. But, of course, Eve being Eve, she also runs afoul of a local murder. Once again she heard rustling, footsteps. A uniformed cop came into view on the path. Young, she thought, and nearly sighed. As young as the dead with the open, pink-cheeked face of innocence.
Eve grabbed his arm, turned him away. A thrill killer with more bodies piling up Aw, Morris, starting to move forward after Amaryllis She found him at work, a protective cloak over his sharp suit. And I was curious. It gave me the serious creeps. Treachery in Death: YES! Like a god. Mavis working a grift for Eve! She snapped bright pink gum and gave the two lieutenants a bored look out of chocolate brown eyes. Renee gave the woman a quick sweep, from the pigtails, over the cheap white polo shirt, the baggy pants, the dull gray skids.

Dumped her in my lap and poofed. But I did pee. She can say your name. On a strangled sound, Eve started to swipe the goo off with the heel of her hand, but Mavis pulled a damp wipe out of a packet. And your men. Everybody knows it. It warmed her, in the deep. Peabody rose.
I wanted to be like you. When you took me on as aide I was so happy, and I was so fucking scared. You bleed just like the rest of us, but you still go through the door. That makes you, and the rest of us who do the same, damn good cops. You taught me to want to be me. So much deception, betrayal, and just…gah, the oomph of it all. And because at the core, I agree with Whitney. He was the only taker. She forgot every ache, every pain, every bruise and cut.

Start your review of Treachery in Death In Death, Having read and pretty much loved all the books in the In Death series, I'm no longer able to be rational and unbiased when it comes to them. At this point, I think of them as one very, very, very long book that's released in installments and, as a whole, the book is fan-tas-tic.
I want to be Eve, marry Roarke, spar with Summerset, work with Peabody, be friends with Mavis, brainstorm with Feeney, be overwhelmed by McNab's wardrobe and, just for fun, kick some serious ass! I loved it!
Also, I loved one of Eve's detectives - Jacobson. He delivers an amazing command of the English language. Hands up! Hands where I can fucking see them, you fucking cocksucker. You fucking breathe wrong, you fucking blink wrong, and I will fuck you One of my favorites in this series. You fucking breathe wrong, you fucking blink wrong, and I will fuck you up" As Eve says: "That was some very creative and varied use of the word fuck, Detective. And, Jacobson: That was true artistry, Jacobson.

It has everything I enjoy about the series in the one book - so many laugh out loud moments, lots of romantic speeches, nearly all of our favourite characters, heaps of police work and of course a big exciting case.
Eve excels in this story. She is totally in control and manages her team through what is really a disaster for the whole police force. At the same time Peabody comes into I love each and every book in this series but some are outstanding and for me Treachery in Death is one of those. At the same time Peabody comes into her own as Eve gives her more and more responsibility. The relationship between these two is a delight and the cause of most of the laugh out loud moments.
I nearly ended my review without mentioning Roarke. He was there of course, his usual charming, gorgeous self. What would we do without him? One of the strongest books in this series! I missed my Eve!!! Very hard and raw subject — a corruptive cop, a rat.
A female Lieutenant, a daughter of honorable former Chef of police, but a dirty cop herself. A woman against woman Brilliantly written! A decent reader would quote some strong and honorable lines, Alex chose this one: "And he called me a whore," she murmured. Roarke eased onto her desk. God, I even cried a bit. Apart from the small fight at the beginning I had no complains.
Ever and Roarke are perfect together. What I love about this man the most — he loves and support the strength of his woman. View all 12 comments. I cried. Took me a while to finish this one due to family duties! But it was worth it. I now have a dilemma I am seriously in love with EVE. As they filed out, Feeney walked to her. He laid a hand on her shoulder. All the secondary char it was always going to be a 4 star but that ending All the secondary characters are fantastic.

There are scenes with Roarke and Eve that draw them out but with a minute or two left to the book there was a moment between Eve, her team and officers that had me shedding more than a few. Another thing I loved was the return of a character from a previous book who has this connection with Webster. I have to say I am intrigued and hopeful that something will come of it. View all 20 comments. It was so nice to be back in Eve and Roarke's world again!!
This instalment was awesome and kept me very entertained. My only complaint would be that I would have liked to have had more Eve and Roarke time!!! The focus was mainly on the murder case If you haven't read this series yet, I strongly urge you to give it a go! It's not to be missed! View all 9 comments. Treachery ranks in the top 5 of the In Death series for me. I really enjoyed watching as Eve methodically builds her case to take them down. She is always good but this one is special - like sitting through a command performance by a world-class orchestra.
As always, the character interaction is superb with appearances by several of my favorites of the series. The teamwork is showcased with everyone playing a big role. This is one of the best! A must read! View 1 comment. Aug 31, Mei rated it it was amazing Shelves: contemporary. You fucking breathe wrong, you fucking blink wrong, and I will fuck you up.
Stream my lieutenant in the fucking back? Fuck you. Robb will face the corruption issue? View all 4 comments. Aug 17, Ann Lou rated it it was amazing. Will I wish to be cured from this addiction? A big fat NO. Anyways, there is a murder at the first chapter with Peabody as the primary but as what she said "it was a slam dunk". The case was closed within a day.
What made this an interesting installment is when Peabody got trapped in the shower hearing a convo about a couple of corrupt cops. So, basically this installment is just that. Good cops vs Bad cops. Very exciting, indeed. My love for Roarke and Eve knows no bounds. I just freaking love them, okay? Having secondary characters that rocks is also a big bonus. View all 8 comments. I think this is my favorite of the In Death books so far, which surprised me given that I don't usually like a "corrupt cop getting taken down" type plot line.

This was the perfect balanced of tight plotting and character moments, and I couldn't put it down Oct 27, Lynette rated it really liked it.
Robb does an awesome job mixing it up and making it still seem fresh. I know there are other readers who do not feel the same way as I do and I respectfully disagree with them. The evolution seems realistic to a happily married couple.
To me, this seemed more realistic, as that is often how real police work is handled, by this I mean gathering enough evidence to prove your case. I thought the emotional angst for Peabody, Commander Whitney, Mira and others provided the perfect emotional backdrop and I loved how Eve supported them. It was nice to see her providing the emotional support to her friends, which you know if you read the series, is a big step up in her emotional development.
I also loved the big cat fight in the end. And I loved the support Eve received from those under her command. I think he should stop being the leader of the universe and just work for Eve yes that was sarcasm. View 2 comments. Whenever I need a pick-me-up, I grab Treachery ID because it never fails to lift up my spirits and put me back into fighting mode.
The core of her—strength, honor, courage—strengthened and deepened with love and friendship and the camaraderie of her fellow cops. The books that come after are good yes, but Treachery ID brought a lot of major developments into the limelight from the time Eve first met Roarke to who they became together. So many scenes of this book are full of fun. Treachery ID emphasizes the fight between good cops and bad cops, against corruption and cops who use the system to manipulate others and line their own pockets.
All the scenes were full of sarcastic, smart repartees that made this story a delight to read. In addition, I got to see my favorite characters. Treachery ID was full of fabulous scenes, clever dialogue and was just plain epic! I hope I never get tired of re-reading it. This is my fave book in the series After working out in the gym, Peabody hears 2 officers enter the locker room and begin arguing.
Trapped, alone and weaponless she realizes that they are not just arguing about a case, but also about corruption and murder. As soon as they leave and she realizes it's safe, she contacts her co-hab McNab and they head over to Lt. Eve Dallas house. IMO this book is more about Eve going head to head with a dirty cop than it is a "who-done-it", and how she and her crew take down a dept of dirty cops. Apr 30, Diane rated it it was amazing. What a great book - right up there with my all time favourites in the ID series. Nothing I love to hate more than a wrong cop - add in a whole squad of wrong cops and that makes one hellava story.
Kick-ass Eve earns her name with a flourish in this book. She has so much to be proud of with her own squad and with her partner! Love the girl fight at the end - great book, must read for all! I always love this series but I particularly loved this installment. I loved the change of mystery and the interpersonal byplay we got to see, as well as a peek into Eve's emotional and psychological growth.
This book made me happy! View all 3 comments. The fact that I read the other one only to find out what happens to the gay couple and that I've given up on the rest almost two decades ago is saying something about this series. Treachery in Death is a better, more coherent book that the previous one. Here we see Eve cleaning out her own house and she does it magnificently.
The book is not in the same category as the first several books but that is hardly a surprise.
